Overview

A World Heritage Site, Victoria Falls is one of the world’s greatest natural spectacles and the stuff of legends, romance and myth. Long before the Scottish missionary and explorer Dr David Livingstone ‘discovered’ the Victoria Falls in 1855, the local Batonga people had named them Mosi-oa-Tunya, ‘the smoke that thunders’.

Zimbabwe is a stunning destination for its raw beauty and world class safaris. A landlocked country in southern Africa known for its reserves and national parks, brimming with natural wonder. Here, guests can enjoy deluxe accommodation and exquisite cuisines. The spectacular landscape of this African land shares the Victoria Falls and Zambezi River with its neighbor, Zambia. Visitors can enjoy the "Smoke that Thunders" Victoria Falls 108m waterfall in Batoka Gorge. On the river, there’s white-water rafting, great picnic spots and even bungee-jumping. At the national parks on the river, visitors can see the majestic hippos and rhinos. Not to be outdone, the variety of birdlife in Zimbabwe is unparalleled and a bird-watchers paradise. From the luxurious lodges and hotels, to well-constructed camp sites, visitors can enjoy an array of animal sighting, accommodation and fun-packed activities in these amazing national parks. For those who enjoy water related activities, Lake Kariba, the world’s largest man-made dam, offers a variety of activities from sunset cruises to water sports to fishing. Houseboat holidays are a popular choice on this beautiful lake and a special thrill is staying on the lake over full moons when the water is magical and it feels like heaven is touching earth.

The award-winning Victoria Falls Safari Lodge is high on a plateau that forms a natural boundary to the unfenced Zambezi National Park and is close to the thunder of Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe’s star attraction. The views from Victoria Safari Lodge are nothing short of majestic and Africa is showcased in its best light, as the untamed land of legend. The lodge itself has been designed in a way to give the impression of a vast open-plan tree house and it is built on seven intricate levels, rising above the bushveld. The lodge also has its own private watering hole that is often visited by elephants and herds of buffalo.

This morning, guests will be collected by their English-speaking driver/guide for their scheduled tour of the falls.

No surprise why Victoria Falls is one of the seven Natural Wonders of the World. You'll understand it instantly as we tour the Zimbabwean side, for there are numerous spectacular vantage points along the width of the Falls, and the sight of this astounding gift of nature, simply takes your breath away. Walk through the permanent, beautifully misty rain forest which flanks the Falls, stopping to marvel at the principal sites as it cascades to the depths below the Main Falls, Horseshoe Falls, Rainbow Falls, the Boiling Pot, Cataract Island and Livingstone Island. We'll stand and watch, feel and listen to the spray and thunderous noise, as millions of liters of water tumble over the Falls into a series of narrow gorges below. The seventh Natural Wonder of the World puts on the most dramatic show for you, and you'll be privileged to have watched it.

Upon returning to hotel, spend remainder of the day at leisure – before being collected for their scheduled sunset cruise.

Put your feet up, sip a sundowner as the light gently fades, and let our tranquil wildlife cruise float you along the Zambezi River above the Falls. You'll have the finest vantage point from which to watch hippo, crocodiles and other animals which come down to the river's edge in the early evening, to slake their thirst. Enjoy your cocktail and snacks while captivated by the sun's dying rays as they cast a burnt orange glow which shimmers on the river. Take another sip in this golden setting.
