Leon was founded by Spanish captain Francisco Hernández de Cordoba in 1524. It was buried in 1610 by the volcanic eruption of Momotombo volcano. The city was moved by the inhabitants to the actual location. Since its foundation Leon has been one of the most important cities of the country economically, socially and intellectually. Upon arrival at the airport in Managua, the country’s capital city you will be met by our Driver who will accompany you to the hotel in Leon for Check-in. 1500 hrs Discover Leon, the intellectual center of Nicaragua, a charming Spanish-Colonial city founded by Spanish captain Francisco Hernández de Cordoba in 1524. 0800 hrs A journey to the youngest volcanoes “Cerro Negro” in Nicaragua to live and enjoy the adventure of Volcano Boarding. Adrenaline is the ingredient that stirs the hearts of the of the participants of this adventure that is fast becoming one of the most essential activities to do in Nicaragua. After an early private transfer from Managua, the experience starts with an off-road transfer from Leon city, followed by a one-hour hike to the top of the Cerro Negro volcano, during which your guide will teach you some of the geology of the area.
