Today, we will have an orientation of Kuala Lumpur & countryside tours (approx. 8 hrs) – an insight of old and new starting from where the city of Kuala Lumpur (KL) started, which is at the confluence of the two rivers, Gombak River and the Klang River, to the Petronas Twin Tower (photo stop), King's Palace (photo stop), the National Museum (Included entrance fee), National Mosque (drive pass), National Monument (photo stop) and to the buildings at the Independence Square, the newly renovated of the historical Sultan Abdul Samad Building.

Head out of the metropolis and visit the spiritual Batu Caves, a limestone hill riddled with caves and cave temples. Climb the 272 steps to the shrine of Hindu Lord Murugan, visited by over a million pilgrims every year on the annual Thaipusam festival.

At the world-famous Royal Selangor pewter factory, learn about the production methods of this pioneering pewter maker and enjoy a guided tour of the foundry where you can watch how this alloy is turned into popular souvenirs.

You will also have an opportunity to visit a batik workshop and learn how local artists create this exquisite fabric.

Back to the city, a visit to Chinatown (Petaling Street). Take a stroll through the open-air market where you can test your bargaining skills for a wide variety of merchandise spread across the street. Visit the Sri Maha Mariamman Temple, where the smell of burning jasmine, incessant chanting of the Hindu priest, intricately carved deities and the mystical aura combine to give you a lasting impression of this religion

Note: When visiting sacred temples or places of worship, it is best to show respect for the dress code. Dress as modestly as possible (shorts, miniskirts and sleeveless tops are inappropriate and must be avoided). Batu Caves Tour is not available for 3 days on Thaipusam Festival (Eve of the festival, festival day and one day after the festival).

Departure transfer to KLIA Airport for a domestic flight to Sandakan, located in the state of Sabah. Upon arrival at SDK Airport, meet and transfer to your hotel in the town centre for check-in. Free at leisure.

1200hrs, check out and transfer to your resort located in the Sepilok area. Free at leisure with your own activities. You may swim at the resort’s swimming pool while enjoying the nature surrounding it.

By 1800hrs, be ready at “The Flying Squirrel” platform to witness these amazing creatures in action. After dinner, proceed for a Guided Night Walk at our nature boardwalk, going up and down the structure next to the Sepilok Protected Forest Reserve.

Transfer for approximately 30 minutes to Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre. At this Centre, observe man’s closest relative, the Orangutan, being rehabilitated to become wild in their natural habitat and experience a walk in the Tropical Lowland Dipterocarp Forest of Borneo. Witness the feeding of Orang Utan at 1000hrs at the feeding platform and proceed to the Orang Utan Nursery.

Later, continue to the Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre, the Centre that managed to improve the living conditions of the rescued sun bear and released their natural behaviours in the 2.5ha enclosed forest.

Safety reminders at the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre.
1. To prevent Orangutans from snatching your personal belongings, please ensure that you do not leave these items unattended.
2. Keep all valuables away from view. Bring only your camera, video cam and a raincoat while visiting the Centre.
3. Fees for camera and video equipment are chargeable by the Park. These must be paid for directly by visitors at the Park. 4. For the safety of the Orangutans, insect repellents are not allowed to be brought to the feeding areas of these animals (to prevent accidental poisoning of these animals if they get their hands on them).
5. For health reasons, visitors are not allowed to feed or touch any of the animals at the Centre or the feeding area.
1100hrs, depart to Sim Sim Jetty for schedule boat depart at 1200hrs to Abai Jungle Lodge, where you will take your lunch and check in Abai Jungle Lodge. Late in the afternoon, you will be expecting a cruise to search for wildlife until the sunsets while enjoying a cup of coffee, and by nightfall, continue the night cruise to witness the fireflies as a Christmas tree.
After dinner, again experience the “Jungle at night” at our nature boardwalk to search for birds, snakes, insects and other wildlife with the nature guide.

Note: Please bring along a torchlight, insect repellent, raincoat (umbrella is not recommended), hat, binoculars, and sunscreen (sweatproof). Use good walking shoes and a comfortable cotton T-shirt with long or short pants.

Overnight at Abai Jungle Lodge (Standard Room with air conditioning).

Wake up to the calls of nature. Early morning, take a river trip to Pitas Lake to observe wildlife and experience the uniqueness of Pitas Lake. 

After breakfast, free at leisure.

After lunch, cruise upriver to Sukau village in search of primates, especially the Endemic Proboscis Monkeys, birds and other wildlife. Arrive at Sukau, check in at Kinabatangan Riverside Lodge. Late afternoon, an option to take another river cruise with an electric motor to the Menanggul River, a small tributary of the Kinabatangan. Return to the lodge for dinner.

After breakfast and check-out. Depart by a scheduled boat to Sandakan and transfer to the airport for your flight back to Kota Kinabalu. 

Note: Local lunch is served at The Airport Garden restaurant near the Sandakan Airport for flight departures after 1400hrs onwards only. If your flight departs BEFORE 1400hrs, there will be no lunch provided, direct transfer to Sandakan Airport only.

Upon arrival at Kota Kinabalu International Airport (KKIA), meet and transfer to your beach resort accommodation. Free at leisure.
