Bariloche, Argentina
San Carlos de Bariloche is a town in the Patagonian region of Argentina and is the largest ski resort of South America. Bariloche is a paradise for hikers and mountaineers. When in Bariloche, visit the Nahuel Huapi National Park. It has an eponymous lake dominating the area with sailing and other water activities available to explore all parts of this beautiful terrain.
Glaciar Perito Moreno
A stunning landscape in the middle of the Patagonian region, it is the most accessible ice field in the world. It is 30km in length, 60 meters high and 5 km in width but the unique part of this feature is the continuous advancement. It increases 2 meters every day, engulfing more of the land. Its breath taking to watch the huge icebergs collapse into the Iceberg Channel).
Peninsula Valdes
Located in the northern part of Patagonia, Peninsula Valdes has unique wildlife thriving in the town. Different species of seals can be seen as also the southern right whales. It is a UNESCO protected area due to its unique marine life. You can also see penguins and guanacos in this region.
Beagle Channel
It is a strait in Tierra del Fuego Archipelago on the southernmost tip of South America, between Chile and Argentina. This is the departure point for Antarctica. It is a great place to relish whale watching and also to take hiking trails along the region’s mountains, glaciers and subantarctic forests.
El Chaltén
It is a village within Los Glaciares National Park in Argentina, also called the trekking capital of Argentina. It is a passage way for treks to Cerro Torre and Mount Fitz Roy. This vibrant village overlooks the spectacular northern part of Nacional Los Glaciares and has many trails for both hikers and non hikers.
