This afternoon, we set off to discover Salto Sapo. We cross the Canaima lagoon aboard a motorized curiara (typical local dugout canoe) along the superb waterfalls. The magic begins to work... Arriving at Anatoly Island, a short walk (20min) takes us to a viewpoint offering a magnificent panorama of the surrounding savanna and imposing tepuis as backdrop. Do you feel like a Tyrannosaurus could emerge at any moment? Nothing surprising - many Jurassic Park scenes were filmed here... Highlight of the afternoon: a cave formed behind the Salto Sapo waterfall allows us to cross the entire length of the falls between the rock and the powerful water curtain. Thrills and guaranteed splashing!

Return to camp in late afternoon.

Dinner and night in the camp.

Breakfast at the camp. Preparation for adventure - today we assault Salto Angel!

Aboard a curiara, motorized wooden dugout, we go up the Rio Carrao and Rio Churrun, amidst the fabulous landscapes of Canaima National Park (about 4h navigation). A short 30-minute walk allows us to avoid the Mayupa rapids. The AuyanTepuy, largest of the tepuis, imposes itself gigantically before our eyes. Sitting on our dugout in the middle of rapids that our Pemon pilot crosses without worry, we feel very small next to this enormous mass of rocks billions ofyears old.

Arrival at Isla Raton, lunch on-site while enjoying the view of Salto Angel (if clear). A forest walk (1h) takes us to a rocky promontory offering an unbeatable view of Salto Angel, the world's highest waterfall (979m). Photo session required! Return to camp on Isla Raton. Dinner on-site and night in hammock in our camp. We fall asleep lulled by forest and river sounds.

Note: During dry season between January and April, river levels don’t always allow going up to the foot of Salto Angel. We'll propose a variant allowing you to make the most of current conditions, such as visiting Kavak canyon which includes a flyover of the fabulous landscapes of Canaima national park and the world's highest waterfall!
