Amazing Days in Ilulissat
Overview
Experience West Greenland on a 4-day tour package that includes four guided excursions and a visit to a UNESCO World Heritage site. This short Arctic break introduces you to the region’s wide landscapes, local Inuit heritage and daily life above the Arctic Circle. Ilulissat, located 300 kilometres north of the Arctic Circle, sits beside the famous Ilulissat Icefjord, where icebergs drift out from Sermeq Kujalleq — the most productive glacier in the northern hemisphere. The town offers a blend of long-held Inuit traditions and modern Greenlandic life, with sled dogs, fishing boats and summer light creating a unique Arctic atmosphere.Immerse

Breakfast at the hotel. Travel by bus as far as the road goes, then continue on a guided walk to the old Inuit settlement of Sermermiut at the UNESCO-listed Ilulissat Ice fjord. Various Inuit cultures lived here over the past 4,000 years, and remains from ancient settlement layers can still be seen. Learn about local traditions and history before European contact, and enjoy views across the icebergs. Walking distance: approx. 3 km round-trip. Hiking time: approx. 1 hour. Terrain: mainly track bridge with some uneven and rocky sections. Total tour duration: approx. 3 hours.
After the hike, you will visit a local family for a home visit or Kaffeemik. Kaffeemik is a traditional social gathering in Greenland, an important part of local culture usually held in someone’s home or a communal space. Greenlanders are known for welcoming visitors into their homes, inviting everyone for coffee and cake. You will have the opportunity to see national costumes and learn about the lives of locals, isolated from the rest of the world. Tour duration: about 1,5 hours.

Therefore the sequence of the day tours and excursions in Greenland is subject to change, or if needed, an alternative excursion will be operated if available. In addition, delays and flight cancellations between Iceland and Greenland can happen. Therefore we strongly recommend you buy travel insurance in the country of residence to cover any additional travel expenses should your flights be delayed or cancelled due to weather.
