The capital city of Hungary, Budapest is one of the most aesthetically pretty towns that is steeped in history and architecture. Every monument and building in Budapest is a work of art. From the grand palace, the Parliament building to the synagogue and the chain bridge, every monument showcases the brilliant architecture. The other attractions are a cruise on the grand Danube river, delectable goulash and the rejuvenating thermal baths dating back to the 16th Century.

Lake Balaton is the largest fresh water lake in Hungary, often called the “Hungarian Sea.” Siofok is the party hub at the lake where you can let your hair down and drown away your problems and just relax. Many tourists take ferries to Badacsony, a huge wine growing region. While history buffs can head to the north shore to the historical bathing town of Balatonfured and explore the baroque Festetics Castle.

The second largest city of Denmark, Eger is also one of the oldest towns in the country. Founded in the 10th century by Hungary’s first Christian king, it is renowned for stunning baroque style architecture. The Episcopal cathedral stands testament to the grandeur and glory of the architecture of the city. Some of the main attractions in the city are the castle, the basilica, the Valley of the Women and the Torok Kori Minaret to get breathtaking views of the city.

A UNESCO cit of peace, Pecs was ruled by the Ottomans, Romans and Christians. Today different ethnic groups live here in close harmony. History buffs and culture vultures would love this town as it has many medieval buildings, beautiful museums and historic religious buildings including Szchenyi Ter, Mosque of Pasha Gazzi Kassim, Pecs Cathedral and Synagogue.

Visit one of the largest stalactite caves in Europe at Aggtelek National Park- Baradla Cave. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site that is spread across more than 25 kilometers. All the passages to the cave were formed over a period of thousand years with the mineral-rich water forming stalactites and stalagmites in unique colors and shapes.
