Monteverde cloud forest
It is a natural crown of Costa Rica. It is located in the Sierra de Tilarán and is home to about 2.5% of the global biodiversity. Approximately 10% of the flora found here endemic. Besides reveling in the natural beauty of this region you can also indulge in some adventure activities like canyoning, rappling and zip lining. Nature enthusiasts can take guided walks in the private reserves of the forest.
Manuel Antonio national park
Located in the Central Pacific, the Manuel Antonio national park has mesmerizing natural beauty found in the white sand beaches and emerald green waters. The village of Manuel Antonio is part of the tropical forest that is teeming with wildlife like raccoons, sloths, deer and howler monkeys.
Poas volcano
The most visited place in Costa Rica, the Poas volcano is about 2700 meters above sea level. It is an active volcano and has one of the largest geyser craters in the world, about 1.32 kilometers in diameter. There is another crater located in a green lagoon because of high amount of sulfuric acid. It is a sight to behold!
Tortuguero channels
They are the second largest wetlands of Costa Rica and are often called the Amazon of Costa Rica due to its rich biodiversity and natural beauty. It is also home to a rare species- the green turtle. The village of Tortuguero is a great place to stay to visit these wetlands and relish over 400 species of birds.
Puerto Viejo of Talamanca and Cahuita
The two villages of Talamanca and Cahuita are symbols of cultural richness of African descent and traditions. Its unique customs, local cuisine and lilting folk music attract tourists and locals alike. You can spend time relaxing on the black volcanic sand beaches or the clear sandy beaches. You could also visit the Cahuita National Park and marvel at the live coral reefs around the Punta Cahuita.
