Ilboru Safari Lodge-Nestled on the lower slopes of majestic Mt Meru, the legendary Ilboru Safari Lodge has been welcoming safari travellers to northern Tanzania for decades. Ideally located between the northern safari circuit and Mt Kilimanjaro, this beautiful Swahili sanctuary is set on a five-acre plot, tucked away beneath ancient trees on the outskirts of Arusha town. Our focus is on providing simple comforts and fine hospitality, crisp white linen, extra pillows, fluffy towels, a desk to write in your journal and everything to make our sanctuary your home.
We have forty-eight cottages in which to accommodate our guests including single, double, twin, triple and family rooms. Four cottages are in the main building, close to the pool and other facilities, each with a balcony overlooking the garden. The rest of the double cottages are situated throughout the lushly landscaped grounds.

As you make your way out of Arusha, you leave the busy city behind, and the landscape gives way to vast plains dotted with grass thatched huts. It will be common to see young children tending to herds of cattle and sheep. In the distance, the imposing wall of the Great Rift Valley rises from the horizon. Afternoon arrival at the tented lodge located adjacent to the park for dinner and overnight.

Tarangire National Park is named after the Tarangire River which runs through it and is known for its large herds of elephants and diverse wildlife. The park covers an area of 2,850 square kilometres and is home to over 550 bird species, as well as lions, leopards, zebras, wildebeest, giraffes, and many more animals. The park is also known for its baobab trees and picturesque views of the Maasai Steppe and the Rift Valley. It is a popular destination for wildlife safaris and outdoor adventure activities.

Situated on the shores of Lake Burunge and located in the migratory corridor of Manyara and Tarangire, Burunge Tented Lodge is only 10-minute drive away from Tarangire National Park. By road, the route takes approximately 2 hours, from Arusha. This tented lodge has twenty thatched guest rooms and pleasant elevated public areas. Burunge Tented Lodge consists of 30 Luxury Tents and 10 Lodge Rooms nestled in a shady bushland grove, with spectacular views onto Lake Burunge, just 10 minutes away from Tarangire National Park. All rooms at Burunge Tented Lodge offer large beds with mosquito netting, en-suite bathrooms with built in showers, private verandas and views of Tarangire National Park and Burunge Lake. Rooms are furnished with bedside table and bedside light, luggage rack, dressing table and safari chairs. Electric lighting is provided through solar power.
Burunge Tented Lodge offers both refreshing outdoor and cosy indoor dining. The main building offers a central lounge and bar/dining area built on a raised wooden deck. This elevated platform is the ideal venue for guests to relax and enjoy a sundowner whilst the sun disappears over the lake, or to simply sit and enjoy the warm fireplace.

Lake Manyara National Park is named after Lake Manyara, a shallow alkaline lake that is a prominent feature of the park. The park covers an area of 330 square kilometres and is known for its diverse wildlife, including large herds of elephants, buffalo, giraffes, zebras, baboons, and various species of antelope. The park is known as home to tree-climbing lions, a behaviour that can be observed in other areas of Africa. In addition to its wildlife, the park is known for its birdlife, with over 400 bird species recorded, including flamingos, pelicans, storks, and various birds of prey. The park's terrain varies from dense forests to open grassy plains, and the views of the Great Rift Valley and the surrounding landscapes are breath-taking. It is a popular destination for wildlife safaris and bird watching tours.
Manyara Lakeview Oasis

The camp offers a mix of lakeview tents and cottages with either lake or garden view. Each tent and cottage are identical in design and amenities offered. The tents and cottages are designed to have a traditional roofing of “Nyasi.” The interior wall partitions separate the bathroom, which offers both hot & cold showers and the bedroom area which is fitted with a king-size, twin or triple bed flanked by twin side tables with lamps. Furniture is traditional and unobtrusive, imitating the traveling camps of old.
All tents and cottages are en suite and offer a comfortable sitting area, tea and coffee making facilities, mosquito netting, and an outside furnished area.
The camp offers an open-air dining room, swimming pool, a lounge offering a selection of drinks (at an additional cost) and laundry service (at an additional cost).
Morning game drive in Lake Manyara National Park. Return to the lodge for lunch. Depart for Serengeti National Park. Once you pass the Naabi Gate – the gateway to Serengeti National Park – you game view en route to the lodge arriving for dinner and overnight.

Serengeti National Park covers an area of approximately 14,750 square kilometres and is known for its vast savannah grasslands, iconic wildlife, and annual wildebeest migration. The park is home to the "big five" animals: lions, elephants, leopards, rhinoceros, and Cape buffalos, as well as cheetahs, hyenas, giraffes, zebras, and many other species of mammals and birds. The annual wildebeest migration, where over a million wildebeest and other herbivores migrate in search of greener pastures, is one of the most spectacular natural events in the world. The park is also home to the Maasai people, who have lived in the area for centuries and still practice their traditional way of life. Serengeti National Park is a popular destination for wildlife safaris and hot air balloon safaris, and its stunning landscapes and wildlife attract visitors from all over the world.
Serengeti Kati Kati Camp

Serengeti Kati Kati is a mobile camp strategically situated in central Serengeti, ideal for exploring the extensive Serengeti plains. The camp offers comfortable accommodation together with the unique opportunity to enjoy a real safari experience under canvas. In its comfortable tents one will feel completely immersed in the surroundings and can enjoy the rich animal life and vegetation of the area.
An original form of accommodation which resembles the old camps of the first explorers in Africa, with all the amenities expected of modern day traveller. The camp has been designed to have minimum impact on the environment. All of the infrastructure is mobile, and the philosophy of the company is not to leave anything behind.
The tents are situated at ground level with a private verandah. They overlook the savannah. Ample and comfortable, there is a choice of one double bed or two twin beds. The tents have en suite bathrooms with a bucket shower. The family tent consists of two tents interconnected and a shared bathroom and private verandah.
OPTIONAL Shared Hot Air Balloon Safari. Early morning shared transfer in the balloon company vehicle to the balloon staging site. You meet the pilot who provides a safety briefing while the crew inflate the hot air balloon. At sunrise, your shared hot air balloon lifts off over the African plains. At times, your pilot will ascend to a higher altitude to give you an overview of the ecosystem. Then you descend to treetop level to silently observe the wildlife from above. After about 50 minutes, you land and are met by the balloon staff to transport you to your shared bush breakfast. You then return to your camp or lodge.

Depart the lodge and game view as you make your way to Ngorongoro Conservation Area. A picnic lunch box is served en route. You travel along the rim of the crater and descend to the village of Karatu arriving at your lodge for afternoon at leisure, dinner and overnight.

Ngorongoro Conservation Area - The Ngorongoro Crater is home to an estimated 30,000 animals, making it one of the most densely populated wildlife areas in the world. The area is also home to the Maasai people, who have lived in the area for centuries and still practice their traditional way of life. In addition to the wildlife, the area is known for its stunning landscapes, including the Ngorongoro Crater, the Olduvai Gorge, and the Empakai Crater. Ngorongoro Conservation Area is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a popular destination for wildlife safaris and outdoor adventure activities.
Tloma Lodge

Tloma Lodge has been built in the foothills of the highlands of Ngorongoro. It is a small and exclusive lodge with 24 small cottages built in colonial style and 12 rooms overlooking the garden in the main building. The design of the entire complex looks to create an atmosphere evoking the colonial plantations and farms described in many books and films.
The excellent location of Tloma on top of a valley offers fantastic views over a coffee plantation and the walls of the Ngorongoro Crater which can be enjoyed from the private terraces of the rooms. The gardens, full of flowers and bushes, are particularly attractive, although guests find it difficult to choose between a walk around the gardens or relax around the heated pool.
Chalet type bedrooms situated at ground level with a private terrace or balcony. Overlooking the gardens and/or coffee plantation, the rooms are ample and comfortable. Rooms are furnished with a double bed or two single beds. The rooms have an ensuite bathroom with a shower. The family room consists of two rooms with a door connecting the two rooms.
Early departure and descend to the floor of the Ngorongoro Crater. You game drive in this paradise. With a space of only 102 square miles and a resident wildlife population of more than 30,000 mammals, there is a great chance that you might see all of the big five. A picnic lunch box is provided at a scenic location within the floor of the crater. In the afternoon, you return to the rim of the crater and continue to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Those awake early enough will be able to enjoy the sunrise across the eastern rim of the Ngorongoro Crater. Following breakfast, you depart the lodge and begin your journey back to Arusha arriving in the city for lunch (excludes drinks). Then transfer to Kilimanjaro International or Arusha Airport for your departure flight (flight booked by agent or on own arrangements). End of our services.

Arrival Information
Earliest check-in at the arrival hotel is 14h00. Travellers arriving on early morning flights are urged to book a pre-night at the arrival hotel (at an additional cost) to avoid delays in accessing the hotel rooms on arrival.
Departure Information
This safari returns to Arusha at 1230 hrs.
Travellers departing from Arusha Airport on a domestic flight to Zanzibar’s Abeid Amani Karume International Airport or international flight should book a flight departing later than 1230 hrs.
Travellers departing from Kilimanjaro International Airport on a domestic or international flight should book a flight departing later than 1530 hours.
Travellers with limited time before their departure flight will be provided a picnic boxed lunch in lieu of lunch in Arusha.
Travellers with a long layover before their departure flight should consider booking a day room (at an additional cost) to refresh and repack before their international journey.
IMPORTANT Luggage Information
Travellers should only bring soft sided bags on safari. Luggage space in safari vehicles is limited. These bags should measure no more than the following: Height 66 centimetres Length 42 centimetres Width 28 centimetres. Soft sided bags with wheels are permitted.
If travelling on internal flights during your safari, luggage allowances are strictly enforced to 15 kilograms per person including carry-on bags.
If arriving and departing from the same city, bags can be stored in our offices for a one-time fee of AUD 89.00 (per booking, not per bag or per person) to transfer and store the bags and reconnect them with the travellers for departure.
