Welcome to Victoria Falls!
A World Heritage Site, Victoria Falls is one of the world’s greatest natural spectacles and the stuff of legends, romance and myth. Long before the Scottish missionary and explorer Dr David Livingstone ‘discovered’ the Victoria Falls in 1855, the local Batonga people had named them Mosi-oa-Tunya, ‘the smoke that thunders’.

Dr David Livingstone had named the Falls after his queen. Today, the town rightly claims the title of Adrenaline Capital of Africa, home to a seemingly endless variety of adventure sports from bungee jumping to canoeing and white water rafting.

Lunch at the hotel (own account – depending on arrival time)

Rest of day at leisure, thereafter at 1600hrs depart for your half day sunset tour with snacks on board.
“A river of enchantment and magical colors bursting in the sky creating nature’s own masterpiece”, is the only way to describe the African Sunset on the Mighty Zambezi.

Cruise along the banks of the river and view the spectacular scenery that is nature’s own sanctuary, and home to the “laughing hippos”, the “singing birds” and the “snapping crocodiles”, as you sip on your drink and indulge on mouthwatering snacks.

Enjoy the hospitality of our professional guide and Captain as you relax and enjoy the delicious snacks and chilled refreshments. See the “smoke that thunders” as you gently cruise the upper Zambezi River. Enjoy the myths and legends as our guide shares stories of the local tribes.

Experience the Zambezi River as David Livingstone did and travel through waters once journeyed by him on his way to the Victoria Falls. Observe the aquatic bird life and other resident or migratory species.

You may be fortunate enough to witness the great African elephant swimming from island to island, grazing or dusting themselves on the riverbanks. The Zambezi sunset is a highlight of the trip and captivates your magical experience on the Zambezi River. Overnight stay at Victoria Falls.

After breakfast you depart at 07:30 hrs for your full day Chobe National Park tour .
Guests are picked up from their Victoria Falls accommodation and transferred to the Kazungula border post. The transfer takes between 45 minutes and 1 hour. Upon arrival at the Zimbabwe border post, you will pass through Customs and Immigration where your passport will be stamped.

After the formalities are done, you will walk through the border gate where you will board open 4 x 4 vehicles. You will drive 1km up to the Botswana border post. At the Botswana border, you will be given an immigration form which you will need to complete before going to the Immigration counter with your passport. Once your passport has been stamped, you will return to the vehicle. Your game viewing experience is now ready to begin!

The morning begins with a river cruise into the park, with an opportunity to see a host of waders and water birds along with the ever present crocodile and hippos. Chobe is known for scores of large herbivores making their way down to the river to drink, most notably buffalo and elephant. On the islands, puku and lechwe are often seen and on the banks, kudu, impala and water buck are common. Soft drinks and water are included on the boat.

A buffet lunch is served at the newly renovated and ideally located Chobe Safari Lodge, bordering the National Park. A complimentary drink, tea and coffee are included with your lunch. The rest of your drinks are to be paid direct during your lunch.

After a one hour lunch break, guests head off at 13:30 on a game drive in the Chobe National Park. Getting close to nature with specially adapted 4 x 4 open vehicles. Frequent lion sightings occur in Chobe, and sable and roan antelope are common at certain times of the year. Leopards are elusive but common in the area – you may be lucky!

After a 3 hour game drive you will be returned to the border at 16:30 for your return transfer to Victoria Falls. Upon arrival at the Botswana border, you will proceed through immigration and then drive 1km down to the Zimbabwe border. Dr. David Livingstone was paddled in a dug out canoe through swift rapids towards the roar and rising cloud of mist suspended above a cliff over which the whole of the Zambezi River plunged. The Makololo paddlers skilfully landed him on 'Goat Island' (now Livingstone Island) right on the lip of the chasm.

A few steps through the small rainforest and, on the 16th November 1855, he gazed upon one of the most spectacular sights in the world – 'Mosi-oa-Tunya' (The Smoke that Thunders) which he named after his Queen as The Victoria Falls

Livingstone Island is a 5-8 minutes boat ride from the Royal Livingstone Hotel and is located in the middle of the Zambezi River, touching the lip of the Victoria Falls, where the water thunders down the 103m drop.

Swimming in Devils Pool usually opens during the last week of August and stops around the months of December or January depending on the amount of rains .
All visits to the island are during the 'low water' season, which usually begins in mid July and goes through to the end of January. High water visits are not possible as the island is continuously covered in the spray/downpour from the Victoria Falls. Overnight stay at Victoria Falls.

After breakfast. At 06:30 Depart on your full day Hwange National Park Tour with Lunch during the tour.
The day begins slowly with a 3 hour road transfer in a comfortable closed vehicle, which gives us a feel for what the beautiful country has to offer, and the excitement starts to build! En route our guide explains how unique the area is, and by the time we enter the Hwange National Park we are ready, and full of anticipation of a great day ahead!

During the dry season the herds of elephant an buffalo regularly spotted at waterholes are enormous. The park boasts over 25 species of predator and over 400 species of birdlife, and the Big Five! The scenery is magnificent with flat plains and natural pans.

The lunch stop is at one of the picnic sites and you will feel privileged to have had the opportunity to spend a whole day in this wonderfully wild part of Zimbabwe where wildlife is highly respected. Return to Victoria Falls around 19:00hrs with overnight stay .
