Arrival into Richards Bay Airport, meet your English Speaking Driver and transfer to Mkuze, in the heart of Zululand

The Elephant Coast, situated in the north eastern part of KwaZulu Natal, borders Swaziland in the north west and Mozambique in the north and is also known as Zululand and Maputaland.

The area offers an unforgettable opportunity to retrace the paths of past traders, explorers, and tribesmen, to view traditional homesteads amongst tribal communities and to revel in the areas unspoilt beauty.

Ghost Mountain Inn genuinely provides the perfect base to explore all that this amazing area has to offer. Take a trip south to the iSimangoliso Wetland Park, a World Heritage site and Hluhluwe Imfolozi Game Reserve for an unforgettable journey into nature. Adventure north to Ndumu Game Reserve or Tembe Elephant Park, home to the last wild elephants of southern Africa, or view traditional fish kraals at Kosi Bay. Visit Kosi Bay or Sodwana Bay, where endless golden sand hugs the coastline of Maputaland and some of the best snorkelling and scuba diving reefs are to be found. Enjoy the rest of the day at leisure .If time permits, we can arrange a late afternoon activity .

Explore Manyoni on foot with a focus on the ‘smaller things’ in the reserve; tracks, plants, insects but there is a possibility of coming across some of the big 5 wildlife. Walks are limited to 4 guest above the age of 16 due to the dangerous game in the reserve

Game Drive in UMKHUZE GAME RESERVE (Full Day or Half Day)
The reserve harbours an astonishing diversity of habitats ranging from the eastern slopes of the Lebombo Mountains to stretches of rolling acacia savannah, swamps, woodlands and riverine forest.
Wildlife includes black and white rhino, elephant, giraffe, leopard, cheetah, buffalo and a multitude of plains game. Lion were reintroduced to the park in 2013 making it a Big 5 reserve.
The birding is exceptional – 420 species recorded. uMkhuze offers a Fig Forest Walk (5-6hrs) which is highly recommended.

Immerse yourself into the rural community of the Lebombo mountains and enjoy a memorable walk with remarkable views, while learning about rural Zulu customs and living as it is today.

This walk is a cultural treat and allows for interaction with the people of the area, as well as gives a greater insight into life in rural Zululand.
A leisurely drive up the Lebombo Mountains through enthralling scenery with magnificent views of Lake Jozini allows guests to unwind and inhale the wonder and grace of rural Africa. If the drive is arranged in the evening, sundowners in this gorgeous location should not be missed!

A unique experience and one of authenticity, the Myeni Cultural Experience includes a visit to a local homestead as well as the chance to interact with members of the Myeni family. With prior arrangement one can also experience an unforgettable visit to a Sangoma with a bone reading if desired

Stick fighting, and/or a sampling of traditional food and drink. Finish the experience with a drive through the Lebombo Mountains taking in some of the area’s awe-inspiring views as well as the rural life that surrounds you. Optional extras that include food & beer tasting, a Sangoma visit and reading or Zulu stick fighting can be added to a cultural homestead visit, by prior arrangements.Duration +/- 4 hours. with an overnight stay.

After breakfast. Enjoy morning at leisure thereafter tranfer to Jozini Tiger Lodge where you will board your houseboat for the next two nights on Lake Jozini .

Lake Jozini lies in a dramatic setting at the foot of the Lebombo Mountains and is one of South Africa’s largest dams. There are several exquisite gorges which abound with cycads and a wide variety of birds. On the western side of the dam one might see elephant, rhino, hippo and crocodile.

The 13 varieties of fish found in the dam include tilapia, catfish, mud fish, carp and the sought after tiger fish. A catch and release policy for the tigers is promoted and anglers are encouraged to retain only one trophy fish each per day, releasing the live smaller ones.Lunch at Jozini Tiger Lodge (own account)

At14:00 hrs you will be welcomed on-board with a glass of sparkling wine or fruit juice and be invited upstairs to the main lounge where you will be introduced to your Crew and receive a safety briefing from your Captain.
Enjoy the majesty of the Gorge and all the wonderful sights as we cruise to our overnight mooring.Dinner on the house boat with over night stay.
