Detailed Itinerary

Arrive Kilimanjaro International Airport (flight booked by agent), where guests are met and transferred to their hotel located a short distance from Arusha Town Centre.
Overnight Gran Melia Arusha Hotel on bed and breakfast basis (deluxe room)
Earliest check-in time is 1400. Travellers arriving on early morning flights should book a pre-night at an additional cost for guaranteed access to their rooms.

Modern design inspired by the local Tanzanian tribes and emulating the rich coffee bean colours. All the 40 m2 rooms have their own private balcony to enjoy the beautiful lush views over Arusha City and take in the red skies of the African sunset. Equipped with a king-size bed or two single beds, 65-inch TV, minibar, free Wi-Fi and air-conditioning.

Morning at leisure with safari briefing followed by lunch. Afternoon 1400hrs depart Arusha passing through the Masai Steppe filled with many picturesque African villages as well as maize, coffee and banana plantations. At the town of Makuyuni turn North West and continue the journey through a scenic escarpment that brings you to your lodge, perched on the edge of the Rift Valley with stunning views over the distant Lake Manyara.

Lake Manyara Kilimamoja Lodge
Nestled on the rim of the Great Rift Valley with amazing views over Lake Manyara, the lodge is set in lush green gardens, alive with the sounds of the many birds that frequent the property. Lake Manyara Kilimamoja Lodge is the ideal base for a visit to Lake Manyara National Park. Sitting around the outside fireplace watching the sun setting over the Great Rift Valley and listening to the humming of the birds in the background is a wonderful way to relax before your delicious evening meal. The lodge has a dining room where international, traditional and fusion cuisine is served inside and out. A relaxing lounge, cigar bar, television room, billiards room, internet cafe and children's activity room, plus a conference room are all located in the spectacular main house. There is also a beautiful rim flow swimming pool, an outside fireplace, a boutique and a spa.

The lodge 48 suites and 2 luxury 2 bedroom villas are all air-conditioned, tastefully decorated and have panoramic views of the surrounding area. Rooms are equipped with en suite bathrooms with bath, and inside and outside showers. Room facilities include a fireplace, mini bar, safe, wi-fi and private balcony.

After breakfast, there is a game drive in Lake Manyara National Park that returns to the lodge for lunch. Leaving Lake Manyara behind, the journey continues North West across the stunning hilly countryside of the highlands which is filled with wheat and coffee plantations, and then into the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. From here lie the vast plains of the Serengeti, where you begin spotting wildlife as you approach the entrance gate. Complete the formalities and enter the park with game viewing en route to the camp arriving for dinner

Ole Serai Luxury Camp
The Camp is tastefully decorated with all the amenities one would expect in a 5-star luxury camp. All the 20 luxury tents in each camp are en suite with flushing toilets and pressurized running showers. There is 24-hour electric power supply. The tents and the guest areas have been specifically designed to offer guests an optimum 180-degree view while on their bed or while enjoying their meal and drinks. They bring travellers as close to nature as possible from the covered verandas. These stunning views embrace the sparsely spaced acacia tortillas trees with the abundance of animals in the vicinity making the experience awe-inspiring.

The evenings can be enjoyed sitting around the fireplace while exchanging the day's adventures with other guests sipping cocktails or having meals where the background music is nature's unique sounds mostly dominated by the lions roaring as if in celebration to welcome you. The camps are conveniently located less than 40 minutes from Seronera Airstrip. All the essential roads/routes for game drives in and around Seronera are easily accessible from the campsite.

OPTIONAL Shared Hot Air Balloon Safari
You may book a hot air balloon safari for this day . Early morning shared transfer in the balloon company vehicle to the balloon staging site. You meet the pilot who provides a safety briefing while the crew inflate the hot air balloon. At sunrise, your shared hot air balloon lifts off over the Serengeti plains. At times, your pilot will ascend to a higher altitude to give you an overview of the ecosystem. Then you descend to just above treetop level to silently observe the wildlife below. After about 50 minutes, you land and are met by the balloon staff to transport you to your shared bush breakfast. You then return to your camp or lodge. Please note that the cost is NOT included in the safari cost. Please ask for the current rates.

After breakfast you depart for Ngorongoro with a picnic lunch viewing game across the vast Serengeti plains, stopping en route for a picnic lunch. You visit a Maasai village. Continue to your lodge, set on the edge of the Ngorongoro Forest for dinner and overnight.

Ngorongoro Oldeani Mountain Lodge
A 5-star colonial lodge situated on a picturesque hill with spectacular views onto Oldeani Mountain. The lodge is elevated with 360-degree views that extend all the way to Lake Eyasi and Lake Manyara. The property is set on 40 acres of pristine lush green gardens and local vegetation with over 130 species of birds.

The lodge is accessed over a pond and one's first impressions is the grand central hallway with wooden trusses looking out over the fire place, infinity pool and out onto the Mount Oldeani, which is part of the caldera of the world famous Ngorongoro crater, only 12km away! All 50 suites have infinite views of the surrounding area. All rooms are tastefully decorated with all the amenities one would expect in a 5-star luxury lodge, inclusive of inside and outside shower, bath-tub, air-conditioning, fire places, wi-fi, mini bar, safe, tea-coffee percolator and private deck terrace.

The spectacular stone main house has all the luxuries including main lounge, grand central hallway, dining room, spa, boutique, conference room, media (TV) room, outside fire place, rim flow pool, billiards room, internet cafe and children’s activity room.

A highlight awaits you this morning as you depart to explore what is commonly referred to as the World’s largest natural wildlife arena. After breakfast, you descend with a picnic lunch through the early morning mists and 2,000 feet into the crater. Ngorongoro Crater is the World’s largest intact volcanic caldera. Due to its size and diversity, the crater floor is comprised of several distinct areas,
ranging from forest, swamps, lakes and springs, to open grassland and some sandy dunes. A truly unique wildlife experience. Return to the lodge in the late afternoon.

Depart Ngorongoro Crater after breakfast, head south east past Lake Manyara and Mto wa Mbu Village. Through the highlands and the Karatu district, you’ll view the scenic wheat plains and coffee plantations here before journeying down the spectacular escarpment turning south on to the main Arusha – Dodoma road and into the park. From here to the camp, enjoy a game drive en route. After lunch board your safari vehicle and enjoy an afternoon game viewing within the park.

Tarangire Kuro Treetops Lodge
The latest jewel in the Wellworth Collection, Tarangire Kuro Treetops Lodge is set in the heart of Tarangire National Park. Offering stylish, spacious tents with a full en suite bathroom including flushing toilet and pressurised shower, guest will fell well at home. Extensive verandahs provide guests with views of the bush, dotted with massive baobab trees and teeming with wildlife.

Evenings can be shared exchanging stories with other travellers and enjoying cocktails in the lounge or world class dining in the restaurant. Facilities include WiFi and 24-hour electricity.

Tarangire National Park is known for large elephant herds and remarkable baobab trees. The park is also a paradise for ornithologists featuring hundreds of unique species. The big five can be spotted in this park and Tarangire Kuro Treetops Lodge puts you in the perfect location to enjoy the most this park has to offer.

Depart after breakfast and head north east to Arusha. The journey will pass through the Masai Steppe filled with many picturesque African villages as well as maize, coffee and banana plantations. On arrival in Arusha lunch is provided followed by transfer to Kilimanjaro Airport to connect international departure flight (booked by agent).

Notes

We may have to re-route the itinerary or accommodate in similar lodges in case of non-availability. 

Prices for domestic flights, airport taxes or park fees may be changed without prior notice. This is beyond our control and any increase levied will be passed to you. 

Passengers arriving to Kenya and Tanzania may be required to provide proof of vaccination against yellow fever. 

Transfers may be in a two-wheel drive 7 passenger minibuses or 24 passenger coaches. 

Passenger Information 

Passengers should bring only soft sided bags on safari.

All the passengers must have Identification Card/Passport with them for internal flights. 

Baggage on internal flights is strictly limited to 15kgs per person (including hand luggage). Any excess baggage will be charged by the airline at check-in or may be left behind at the pilot’s discretion. 

Travellers’ cheques are generally not accepted. 

 

Luggage

Due to limited luggage space in vehicles, suitcases are unsuitable for scheduled road safaris. We recommend luggage packed in inexpensive barrel/sausage bags or soft sided bags not exceeding 15kgs and 65x46 cm.

Excess luggage can be handed over to the representative at time of briefing for storage in Arusha.  Additional costs per booking will apply to handle excess luggage until your return to Arusha from the safari. This service can be pre-booked alternatively clients can pay for this directly on the ground.
