Detailed Itinerary

Sabaidee! Welcome to Luang Prabang, Laos. You are greeted by your guide and driver at the International airport for your transfer to the hotel.

Evening: indulge all senses with a unique dining experience. Feast your appetite and sights on the newly opened “Ethnic Fashion Show” (open on Wednesday, Friday & Sunday) where you are guaranteed to enjoy various traditional foods from Laos while discovering a unique show

Alternative (daily): Enjoy a welcome cocktail while taking a glimpse into the Laotian past through the silent movie Chang – A Drama of the Wilderness. Premiered in 1927, this masterpiece was one of the blockbusters of the year before mysteriously disappearing for 60 years. Re-edited mid-90s, the film is shown with new composition score based on Lao traditional music.
Followed with a dinner at a gorgeous ambience garden restaurant

Rest of evening, the Night Market here is a great place for wandering, offering a lovely variety of handmade textiles crafted by local and hill-tribe people, along with street food, nick-knacks and friendly banter

Buddhism is the basis of Laos culture and temples play an important role in Laotian daily life. The daily alms-giving ritual is a must-see activity for any visitor to Luang Prabang, and a 'Monks’ life encounter' offers you the opportunity to participate in this practice in an authentic manner.

Set off after breakfast for a visit of the Morning Market where, together with the guide and local host lady, we pick all ingredients needed for our upcoming cooking class. Today, we will not take part in a regular tourist-oriented cooking class. We will instead drive a little outside Luang Prabang center to a small village where you will join your hands to cook some major dishes. You will experience how typical Laos dishes such as Laap Laos, Orlam soup and papaya salad are cooked. The food is then brought to a local temple to offer for the monks’ lunch, and as part of this ritual, your name will be asked for a blessing chant. Later, join in an open talk about Buddhism in Laos with monks. We will also have the chance to have further exchange with the community before returning to Luang Prabang for a light lunch with the left food you will have cooked.

Next, you will be taken to the pier for a short boat transfer to the botanical gardens of Pha Tad Ke. Stroll through the lush gardens and learn about the great conservation efforts done by the expert botanists of the region. We may have chance to attend a short conference in the orchid nursery and then have a chance to rest at the outdoor restaurant in the park.

Cruise back to town, before stopping at the Chomphet Village. Here, you will have the opportunity to walk along the river and through the villages and temples with the chance to interact with the friendly locals, see their lifestyle and view Luang Prabang town from another angle. Stop at the hilltop Wat Chomphet which offers stunning views of Luang Prabang Town and the Mekong River. Here you can relax and reval in the sunset over the town and Mekong River – a perfect picture opportunity.

Breakfast at your hotel, before starting your day at a child-friendly park of Nahm Dong. This well-planned, well-executed leisure area offers a range of activities for guests of all ages. Walk through a field of roses and organic vegetable garden to the centerpiece of the park, Nam Dong Falls. Spend an entire day lounging, swimming, trekking and enjoying this natural preserve.

The gorgeous landscape of the park will definitely be a great escape for your family today! Our acvitities includes: joining in the Saa Paper making class, where the artisan reveals all the secrets of Saa paper which is made from a mulberry tree & will guide you step by step though the paper making process. After that, enjoy a short zipline to five stations (200m length) where you will have chance to admire the waterfall and gorgeous landscape from above! Overnight in Luang Prabang.

We leave Luang Prabang for our scenic drive to Vangvieng, a small town which is nestled on a bend of the Nam Song River. Its stunning scenery with its limestone outcrops remains unspoiled, despite recent developments with the advent of tourism. Depending on road and traffic conditions, we will arrive at Vangvieng by mid or late afternoon. The rest of the day is spent at your own leisure. Overnight in Vangvieng.

We will transfer to Phatang village around 18 km north of Vang Vieng. After an introduction to the basics of kayaking we shall set off down the beautiful Nam Song River which offers various small, but fun rapids. Along the way we will stop at Tham Xang Cave, where we will walk up to the massive theater like cave while hearing about the local history of the area!

After emerging from the cave, a short kayak will lead us to a picnic spot on the riverside where we will enjoy lunch. After lunch, we continue down the river until the next stop at the
Tham None Cave (tube inside in the wet season) which is one of the largest caves in Vang Vieng! It served as a bomb shelter for local villagers during the Second Indochina War. However, today it is home to a bat family and the 'Magic Stone of Vang Vieng'. The final leg of the journey is a gentle paddle downstream to Vang Vieng where we will arrive just in time to catch the magical sunset. Overnight in Vang Vieng.

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel before heading to Vientiane. Vientiane is the capital city of Laos and, located on the banks of the Mekong River, it conjures up exotic images with a curious mix of Lao, Thai, Chinese, Vietnamese, French influences. Along the way to Vientiane, we will stop to visit Vang Xang, a famous archeological site dating back 11th century.

We continue to see the major sights of the capital; including the oldest Wat Sisaket, the temple with thousands of miniature Buddha statues and the former royal temple of Wat Prakeo, which previously housed the famous Emerald Buddha Image. Our next stop is a visit to the COPE Centre where you will learn about this remarkable educational centre, a heartbreaking but compelling place that teaches us about Laos’ Hidden War. Next, we will stop to take some pictures of the imposing Patuxay Monument, which is well known as Vientiane’s own Arc de Triumph, before continuing to Lao’s national precious heritage, the famous and sacred structure of That Luang Stupa. Overnight in Vientiane.
