Detailed Itinerary

Landing at Danang International Airport, you are greeted upon arrival and driven to your hotel in Hue. You will have a scenic drive up and down the Hai Van Pass with opportunities to stop and enjoy breathtaking views over the sea and Lang Co Bay. The journey is about 3 and a half hour before we reach the ancient Imperial Capital.
If you would like to spice up the commute, we can offer you options with additional visits in Danang such as the Cham Museum or the Han market; a cruise to My Son ruins; an adventure trek across the dense forest of Bach Ma national park; or a boat trip on the scenic Dam Chuon lagoon escorted by a local fishermen. There are plenty of possibilities to enrich your travel experience

Hue was Vietnam’s last feudal capital, and today you will get an insider’s point of view to the highlights of this nostalgic city. Your first stop is a visit to Tu Duc Tomb, which is located near the quiet Thuy Bieu Village, 6.5-km from the city centre. It’s a sprawling compound centred on the lake and several waterways, and includes numerous memorials connected by attractive walkways. Next, you’ll visit a local garden house where your host will welcome you with hand-made ginger jam and tea. Veer off the common path and enjoy an easy bicycle ride around the village to explore the daily local life in the peaceful countryside, before enjoying some traditional dishes of Hue. After the delicious home hosted lunch, take a leisurely boat ride across the Perfume River then transfer to Imperial Citadel, the best-preserved remnant of the vast citadel and royal quarters that once existed on the site. Here you can see the ravages of time and war on what was the carefully designed capital of the Nguyen Dynasty. Built in the early 19th century by armies of conscripted labourers under Emperor Gia Long, the citadel was surrounded by a 10-kilometre moat while earthen walls formed the outer perimeter. We exit the citadel to visit the nearby workshop and gallery of famous Vietnamese artist Truc Chi, who is a contemporary artist that created his own art based on bamboo paper carvings. We then head back to the hotel where you can spend the rest of the afternoon at your own leisure

Take a break from Hue’s imperial past and join with us on an exciting trip to the city’s lagoon and pristine beach. Departing by bicycle from your hotel, we leisurely ride out of town to a nearby little village on the shores of Chuon Lagoon. We stop at a tiny market to take part in a one-of-a-kind culinary experience, buying fresh seafood from the morning’s catch and having them cooked into local pancakes right on spot. Our morning continues riding on small roads across a fishermen village surrounded by wetlands dotted with huts on stilts. We jump on a fishing boat and journey onto the lagoon to discover some of locals’ ancestral fishing techniques. Setting wheels on the other side, we complete our gentle adventure cycling on a coastal road to a hidden restaurant tucked away behind the dunes on a pristine stretch of beach. Sit back and relax while a delicious light lunch is getting prepared. Enjoy a dip in the waters and some lazy time by the beach before we continue by road to the South and Hoi An. The scenery is remarkable, as the route hugs the coastline of the East Sea before winding up the spectacular Hai Van Pass. Here you can stop to admire the stunning views: north over Lang Co Beach and south over Da Nang. The Museum of Cham Sculpture features extensive and diverse displays of Hindu-influenced Cham sculpture dating from the 7th to the 15th centuries. Designed in 1915 by two French architects, Delaval and Auclair, your visit here will introduce you to the most common features of Cham towers and temples from throughout the region. Then continue driving along My Khe Beach to Hoi An.

A full day at leisure to enjoy some shopping in Hoi An town or to go to the beach. We recommend An Bang beach, located about 4-kilometres North of Hoi An. If you want to try some typical local food, here are some helpful hints: street food addicts, we highly recommend you to get a Banh Mi sandwich at Madam Khanh’s stall (115 Tran Cao Van street), a legendary Cao Lau soup or a plate of crispy Hoanh Thanh. If you crave seafood, look for the little Huyen Tran Cong Chua street that goes along the River to the East of the Old Quarter; grab a seat at Song Thu restaurant and ask them to hand you a menu with prices on it.

Rest at leisure before checking out and transferring to the airport for your onward flight
