Explore Mauritius’ ethnic diversity with a culinary tour in the centre of the island…
Let’s start the day with a pair (or more) of freshly made dholl puri in the city of Rose-Hill; ‘Chez Bye’ is known as being one of the best served dholl puri of the island. We shall then drive towards La City Trianon, where local stalls are empowered to sell authentic dishes like the ‘Merveilles’ accompanied with a chutney and tamarind sauce but also the ‘poutou’ made with rice and also grilled peanuts, etc. If you have a sweet tooth, you will find a stall in front of the Merveille stand to try some local comfort food like the adourson, galette de manioc (casava pancake).
Nestled in the village of Moka, the table d’Hôte Escale Creole welcomes you to experience an authentic lunch to discover the Mauritian cuisine. After this copious meal, let’s head toward Domaine des Aubineaux, a colonial house, located in the centre of the island for an afternoon tea and biscuits. As this tour ends, you’ll get some time to relax there before driving back to your hotel.
