Welcome to Sofia. You will be met at the airport and
transferred to your hotel. There’s time to relax before meeting
your fellow travelers and Tour Director for a Welcome Dinner.

See the highlights of Sofia on a morning tour. You’ll visit the
National History Museum where gold and silver Thracian
treasures are displayed, and see the Alexander Nevski
Cathedral, Alexander Nevski Crypt and more. The balance
of the day is at leisure. Overnight. (B)

Cross into Serbia and head to Nis, one of Europe’s oldest cities
and the third largest city in Serbia. See the highlights on an
orientation tour and take a break for lunch before traveling
to Belgrade. Tonight, enjoy dinner with live music in a
typical restaurant in the old Bohemian quarter of Skadarlija.

Your morning sightseeing tour includes a visit to the imposing
Kalemegdan Fortress, dramatically set at the confluence of
the Sava and Danube Rivers. You’ll also see Republic Square
and Knez Mihajlova Street, Saint Sava Temple, the largest
Orthodox Church in the city, and Tito’s Memorial. The rest of
the day is free. Overnight. (B)

Travel to the beautiful city of Novi Sad. On a walking tour,
you’ll see the major attractions, including the Petrovaradin
Fortress, Liberty Square, and the Cathedral. Continue to
Timisoara, the city where the Romanian revolution started
in 1989. Here you’ll view the ruins of Timisoara Fortress,
Huniade Castle, Pasha's Wheel, the Fabric residential
area, and Corso shopping area. Dinner at your hotel and
overnight. (B, D)

Traveling east, stop to visit the Fortress of Hunedoara,
which became the castle of King Matthias Corvin in the
late 15th century. The architecture is unique in that it has
different construction styles as well as the presence of
military and civil innovations. After your visit, continue to
Sibiu, founded in the 12th century. Dinner at your hotel
and overnight. (B, D)

Take a sightseeing tour of Sibiu, once the richest town
in Transylvania. See the Huet Square, the Great Square,
the Evangelical Cathedral, Liar's Bridge and more. On to
Sighisoara, the best preserved medieval city in southeastern
Europe and a UNESCO World Heritage site. On a city tour,
visit the famous Clock Tower Museum. Continue to Brasov,
where a walking tour includes a visit to the First Romanian
School Museum with an impressive collection of rare
books, documents, and art. Dinner at your hotel and
overnight. (B, D)

Head to Bran for a visit to Bran Castle, made famous by
Bram Stoker's novel as the residence of the sinister vampire,
Count Dracula. Return to Brasov with the remainder of the
day at leisure. Overnight. (B)

Continue toward Bucharest, stopping in Sinaia to visit
Peles Castle, built as the summer residence of King
Carol I. Afterward, visit the beautiful 17th-century Sinaia
Monastery. End the day in Bucharest, known as "Little
Paris." Dinner at your hotel and overnight. (B, D)

Get acquainted with the Romanian capital on a sightseeing
tour. Visit the Parliament Palace, one of the largest
buildings in the world and a National Treasure. Learn how
the Romanian people finally succeeded in toppling the last
communist dictator in Eastern Europe at the Revolution
Square. The tour will also bring you to the Romanian
Athenaeum, the Opera House, the National Military Club,
the Military Academy, Triumphal Arch, and the Patriarchal
Church. Celebrate your Balkan Adventure tonight with a
Farewell Dinner and folklore show. Overnight. (B, D)

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight home.
