Itinerary
Iquitos, Nauta, Marañón River, Nauta Caño.
Your journey begins in Iquitos with a transfer to the port of Nauta, the gateway to the Pacaya Samiria Reserve. Along the scenic drive, you’ll enjoy a box lunch while observing the changing landscapes of the Peruvian Amazon. Upon boarding, settle into your comfortable suite and take in panoramic river views from the observation deck. As the vessel begins navigating the Marañón River, expert naturalist guides introduce the itinerary, regional geography, and the incredible biodiversity you are about to encounter.
In the evening, venture out on skiffs to explore Nauta Caño. As darkness falls, the jungle transforms. With flashlights in hand, search for glowing caiman eyes along the riverbanks, listen for nocturnal frogs, and possibly spot tarantulas and other elusive creatures. Return on board for a specially prepared dinner inspired by Amazonian flavours, marking the beginning of your unforgettable rainforest expedition.

Rise early for a sunrise excursion along the Amazon River, when wildlife activity is at its peak and riverside communities begin their daily routines. Observe fishermen, children heading to school by boat, and the rhythms of life along the riverbanks. After breakfast, continue exploring along the black waters of the Yarapa River, a prime location for spotting exotic birds, monkeys, and sloths resting among the treetops.
Later, deepen your cultural understanding with a guided visit to the community of Paranapura. Learn about local customs, traditions, and daily life while guides serve as interpreters, fostering meaningful exchanges. As sunset approaches, embark on another nighttime safari in search of caimans, bats, frogs, and other nocturnal wildlife. End the day enjoying live music onboard, surrounded by the soothing sounds of the Amazon.

Yarapa on the Ucayali River (Black Water), Yucuruchi, Amazon River (Origin).
Begin the morning cruising along the Yarapa River once more, discovering new landscapes illuminated by the soft early light. After breakfast, disembark for a guided jungle walk in the Yucuruchi area within the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve. This protected region offers the opportunity to observe diverse flora, towering ceiba trees, medicinal plants, and native wildlife species. Your naturalist guide will explain the intricate relationships within this complex ecosystem and how seasonal flooding shapes life in the rainforest.
Following lunch and a short rest, head out on a boat excursion along the Amazon River in search of the famous pink and grey river dolphins. Watch as they surface gracefully in the shimmering waters. As the day draws to a close, witness a spectacular Amazonian sunset, with brilliant hues reflecting across the river’s mirror-like surface. Back onboard, enjoy live music and a farewell dinner as the crew celebrates your journey through the rainforest.

Disembarkation in Nauta Port.
After breakfast, disembark in Nauta and travel toward Iquitos. En route, visit the Amazon Forever Bio Park, also known as the Manatee Rescue Centre. Here, biologists and volunteers rehabilitate endangered Amazonian manatees and other rescued wildlife before releasing them back into their natural habitats. Learn about ongoing conservation efforts, environmental education initiatives, and the challenges facing Amazonian wildlife.
This meaningful visit offers a final opportunity to reflect on the importance of protecting this extraordinary ecosystem. Afterwards, continue to the airport for your departure, concluding your immersive Amazon adventure.

-Kayak excursions are available upon request, weather permitting, and operate in calm waters; participation is at guests’ own risk (two passengers per kayak).

Weather Preparedness
-The Amazon is hot and humid year-round, with temperatures between 75°F and 95°F (24°C to 35°C).
-Rain is common throughout the year, especially during high-water season (Dec–May).
-Pack a light rain jacket or poncho, and opt for breathable, moisture-wicking fabrics.
Fitness Requirements
-Excursions involve light to moderate physical activity, including jungle walks and boarding skiffs.
-Terrain can be uneven or muddy, so a basic level of mobility is necessary.
