Tanjung Datu National Park, 2 hour from Kuching by car and another 20 minutes by boat from Telok Melano situated at the western tip of Sarawak on the Datu Peninsula. It is one of the smallest parks in Sarawak, with an area approximately 14 kilometres square (1,379 ha). Half of the peninsula is situated within Sarawak and the other portion lies in Kalimatan Indonesia. Described as the ‘Heaven of Borneo’, visitors to the park will be greeted by towering trees when they enter the forest. Unlike most of the national parks in Sarawak, the unique attraction inhabiting the forest is the Banded Langur or locals call it the “Penatat”. Other famous inhabitants of the forest are the Bornean gibbon, long tail macaques, pig-tailed macaque, bearded pigs, bearcat, civet cat tufted ground squirrels, peacocks, mouse, deer, barking deer, sambar deer, porcupine and hornbills. Overnight at national park in an open space hut (dormitory) or in the comfort of a bedded room (limited room inventory).
