Detailed Itinerary

Arrival at the airport and transfer to the hotel. In the afternoon, we make a panoramic tour of the city. We start in Plaza de Mayo, scenery of the most important events of the country since 1810, to then continue to the neighbourhood of La Boca and finish in Palermo and Recoleta. In the evening, we attend a dinner show to appreciate the magnetism of tango.

In the afternoon, the city awaits us to explore Salta by a walk through its streets, churches and colonial buildings. During the tour, we visit the MAAM (Museum of High Mountain Archaeology), which is in charge of sharing and conserving the ‘Niños del Llullaillaco’, one of the most important archaeological discovers in the last decades. Maximum altitude: 1.152 MASL (3.779 ft.)

Departure from Salta to start our trip through the Calchaquíes Valleys. During the trip, we stop at Del Obispo Slope, del Tin Tin Straight and Los Cardones National Park. In Cachi, we enjoy free time for lunch (not included) and walk around the town. Then, continue towards Cafayate through National Route 40, passing by enchanting towns such as Seclantas, Molino’s and Angastaco, apart from the amazing De Las Flechas Gorge, which is a curious rocky formation. Arrival at Cafayate. Travelled distance: 320 km (199 miles) Travel time: 11/12 hours Maximum altitude: 3.348 MASL (10.984 ft.)

In the morning, we explore the city, The Vine and Wine Museum and a winery. After lunch (not included), departure towards Salta visiting De Las Conchas Gorge, characterized by its curious formations, such as the Amphitheatre and the Devil´s Throat, both consequence of wind and water erosion. Arrival in Salta and accommodation. Travelled distance: 197 km (122 miles) Travel time: 8 hours Maximum altitude: 1.683 MASL (5.522 ft.)

Early departure travelling along Del Toro Gorge to reach the town of San Antonio de los Cobres and discover part of the route that the Train of the Clouds used to do. After lunch (not included), we continue along the Puna to reach Salinas Grandes Salt Flat, the third largest in the world. Then, we descend along De Lipan Slope to Purmamarca, where well-known De los Siete Colores Hill is located. Accommodation. Travelled distance: 320 km (199 miles) Travel time: 10 hours Maximum altitude: 4.170 MASL (13.681 ft.)

Today we explore Huma Huaca Gorge, a Humanity Cultural Heritage by UNESCO, visiting typical and colourful villages such as Tilcara with its Pucará and Huma Huaca from where we reach the incredible El Hornocal mountain range, also called Cerro de los 14 Colores, whose viewpoint is at 4350 meters above sea level. On the way back to Salta we stop at the chapel of Uquía, the oldest in the Quebrada and the afternoon sun gives us beautiful views, especially the Paleta del Pintor, which frames the town of Maimará. Arrival in Salta. Travelled distance: 308 km (191 miles) Travel time: 11 hours Maximum altitude: 4350 MASL (14.271 ft.)

Morning at leisure in order to continue exploring the city. At due time transfer to the airport to embark towards Puerto Iguazu. Arrival and reception.

In the morning, we go to Iguazu National Park to visit the Iguazu Falls, which has been declared Natural Heritage Site and one of the Seven Modern Wonders of Nature. During the tour, we go through the three circuits of the park: Garganta Del Diablo (to reach the balcony and viewpoint of the most imposing waterfall of the park), The Upper (which provides a vertical view) and The Lower (which offers a closer contact with the vegetation and the falls). During the tour, we have free time for lunch (not included) and the chance to take optionally The Great Adventure, an excursion that combines a boat ride at the foot of some waterfalls and a crossing through the jungle. In the afternoon, return to the hotel.

We leave Puerto Iguazú to get to Foz do Iguaçu in Brazil and visit the waterfalls on the Brazilian side and we are able to appreciate a view of almost all the falls. Return to Puerto Iguazu and transfer to the airport. Arrival in Buenos Aires and accommodation.

Time at leisure. If your flight allows it, we suggest you continue discovering Buenos Aires’ secrets. At due time, transfer to the airport to board the scheduled flight.

Operational note:
Day 2: It is required to arrive by flight before 2PM.
The High Mountain Museum is closed on Mondays. Due to the closure of Cabildo (TUE) and Mercado de San Miguel (SUN). The points of interest to visit will be modified.
Day 3: Pablo Díaz Museum closes on Mondays.
Day 4: The Vine and Wine Museum closes on Mondays.

-Due to the characteristics of the Puna, we recommend that people with respiratory, cardiac or pressure illnesses take special care.
-Puerto Iguazú: The access to Garganta Del Diablo can be interrupted because of the rise in river flow.
-In case of taking The Great Adventure, ask for its restrictions.

Basic concepts
1. All guided tours include local bilingual English speaking guide.
2. Flights are not included. Please check at the time of booking the needed flights, as they are subject to frequent rescheduling.
3. To avoid extra transportation costs, you must reserve the needed flights in the program.
4. In case of adding nights before or after the program, calculate only the extra night of the hotel, since the transfer in / out in Buenos Aires is already included.
5. Two categories of hotel: First Superior and Tourist Superior. The hotels can be replaced by others of the same category, for reasons of availability.
6. Lodging tax exemption in Argentina. It is mandatory to receive copy of the passport in order to keep the exemption.
7. Meals as specified in the itinerary. Beverage is included only in box-lunches and during the dinner of the Tango Show. Please have a look to the supplements if full board or modified American plan are needed.
8. Tickets to natural reserves, national parks and museums.
