Zimbabwe is knows for Waterfalls, the "Big Five" national parks, however the Eastern Highlands provide contrasting but complementary images of neighbouring African nations, Zimbabwe has a cultural flair all its own, with generally warm locals eager to welcome tourism and the infrastructure tourism brings.

Climate

In Zimbabwe the weather is decided by the altitude but in general there are three seasons. Winters are from late May till August with clear skies, warm temperatures and cool nights. Rainy season lies between December and March and the summers plunge in between September and October with temperatures touching 24 degrees Celsius.

Places to Visit
Victoria Falls

Victoria falls is one of the most visited destinations in the country with tourists flocking to see the gigantic falls and the roaring sound it makes. The curtain of water cascades down dramatically from the rock-cliffs and gushes down in steam and mist, keeping the travelers in awe of the sheer height from which it falls. They are the largest falls in the world both in terms of width and height and border two countries- Zambia and Zimbabwe but most of the viewing points are in the latter. Besides the falls, travelers also indulge in some adventure sports like bungee jumping, river rafting and wildlife safaris.


Lake Kariba

It is the world’s largest man-made lake. It has prolific wildlife and exotic natural beauty. The mountainous region around the lake is teeming with wildlife and birds. Visitors plan both safaris in the jungles and boat rides on the lake to experience the area in all its glory.


Matobo National Park

It is a cross-shaped reserve located near Bulawayo. It is renowned for its differently shaped hoodoo rock formations and inselberg along with sculpted granite peaks and anthropomorphic bluffs. The park was a shelter for man for many millennia and now its remnants can be seen in Nswatugi Cave. Other attraction in this area is the Hove Wild Area that is teeming with wildlife. There are many organized safaris planned here to see the wildebeest, leopards and baboon packs.


Nyanga National Park

Sitting on top of Zimbabwe about 1,800 meters above sea level, this park is different from the rest. It is amidst tall hills, mountain waterfalls, lush green valleys and gurgling rivers. Home to some endemic species of animals including; the Old World Samango monkeys with white-brushed throats, this park is unique for many reasons. You can also spot leopards and lions here.


Gonarezhou National Park

Renowned for its vibrant red sandstone cliffs, sitting tall as if engulfing the edge of the world, scrub and baobabs, Gonarezhou National Park is a sight to be seen. It is the second largest national park in the country boasting ferocious elephants, varied species of birds and the big five. Visitors flock here to see the dramatic landscape and the largest-tusked elephants in the region.
