Climate

In Georgia summer lasts from June to August with temperatures ranging from 20 to 30 degree Celsius while Autumn comes in September and goes on to November. The country faces extreme winters between December and February with night time temperatures dipping to below 0 degrees. Infact it snows heavily in some places in the country.

Places to Visit
Tbilisi

The capital city of Georgia, Tbilisi is a beautiful town on the banks of the river Mtkvari and nestled amongst hills and mountains. It is an old city and has been the capital since the 5th century. History and architecture go hand in hand in this town of stunning monuments and museums. The Old Tbilisi or old town forms the core of the city with an array of Byzantine churches, timber balconies, pretty parks and fountains. A walk up to the Narikala Fortress will give you a peak into its past and also provide a panoramic view of the city. Its best to explore this beauty on foot.


Mtskheta

It is the religious capital of Georgia and hence an important city. It was initially, the capital city before King Gorgasali moved his base to the present capital. It is also one of the oldest cities in the country dating back to human settlements about 4000 years ago. Some of its churches and monasteries including Svetitskhoveli, Jvari and Samtavro Monastery are worth a visit-both for religious and architectural purpose.


Tusheti National Park

This park is the home of the eponymous Tush people. Located on the northern edges of the Greater Caucasus Mountains, this park has a breathtaking view with soaring peaks and grass-clad hills as a backdrop. There are hiking and trekking trails along the park that will help you explore the verdant beauty in all its glory.


Uplistsikhe

Located in East Georgia, Uplistsikhe means “Lord’s Fortress” and it is indeed a n abandoned rock-hewn town dating back over 3000 years. Founded in about 1000 BC, the cave city has structures that are connected through tunnels. Over the complex of caves lies a 9th century church that is the only splash of color in the otherwise a hue of gray colored caves.


Gudauri

The skiing capital of Georgia, Gudauri, is about 2,000 meters above the low valleys through the middle of the Greater Caucasus range at the northern edge of Georgia. People flock to this place for skiing and other winter sport activities.
